Use the console

The server's own screen and keyboard in your browser, for when SSH can't reach it.

The console is your server's screen and keyboard, as if you stood in front of it. It works without the network, so it gets you in when SSH doesn't, and it shows the machine starting up.

Open it#

Press Console at the top of the server's page:

  1. 1Console Asks for a console. It takes about half a minute to make.

The page keeps checking by itself while it's made:

Then it's ready:

  1. 1Open the console Opens the screen in a new tab.
  2. 2New link Makes a fresh link. Links work for a few minutes only.

If it couldn't be made:

  1. 1Try again Asks for the console again. If it keeps failing, open a ticket and say which server.
Dedicated servers Locked out, or it won't boot Get back into a server you can't log in to, or that won't start, without losing what is on its disks.Dedicated servers Reset the root password Set a new root password on a Linux dedicated server without a reinstall; it takes about five minutes and one reboot.Account Open a support ticket Ask us something about your account or a server, what to put in it, and how replies reach you.
